Eid-ul-Fitr Festival in Kerala

Eid, a festival of peace, compassion, devotion, and universal brotherhood, is celebrated by the Muslims across the globe. However, when it comes to Kerala, this festival proves to be a path that unites and binds every soul, and fill in the ambience with equality, festivity, and communal harmony.

Unlike other Indian states, the Spice Garden of India is known for its heart-warming people, and this can be experienced very well during the holy festival of Eid (both Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adhaa). Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated on the first of the pious Shawwal month of Muslim calendar after the completion of a month’s fasting (Ramadan month).

During the festival, Muslims across Kerala wears new dresses and gather in a community prayer ground to offer ‘Namaz’; on their way back, they greets each and every one, and wishes them all the blessings of the Almighty. Post the prayer, the celebration turns into a gala feast, wherein people delight in traditional sweets and also exchange gifts with family and friends.
